Gratitude is a Learned Strength

Updated: 11 minutes ago

Hearing more about gratitude in recent times? Have you tried practicing it? Is it easy? Don't be put off if the answer is 'no'! Fortunately, it's not because of your circumstances. Fortunately because we often have little direct control over them. It's because we as humans are inherently biased to be negative. Why? Old survival habits.

Practicing gratitude can take time and patience, given we are geared towards survival mode

Those survival habits applied in a day and age where you could be exiled from a village and starve to death just for having a differing opinion. Fortunately, that is largely no longer the case. They also applied in a day and age when you had to search for a member of the opposite sex, fight the competition etc to reproduce. That is also no longer the case. Today, finding a friend is as easy as going on the internet and meeting at a coffee shop. And unique viewpoints are generally valued in a world facing complex problems requiring multi-lateral, multi-generational solutions.

So no excuse not to be grateful! That given, how do you actually do it? The answer is to discard the negative survival mind using a method demonstrated to work. And practice gratitude as much as you can along the way, with the gratitude that the Universe is trying to help you come out of that negative self centred mind. Good luck! 😉
